Know Your Fisherman
Kat is the owner of Katfish Salmon Co. and the co-owner/operator of the F/V Aloma. She spends her summer months fishing with her husband Luke for salmon and lingcod in Southeast Alaska, utilizing a traditional hook and line method that allows them to catch fish one-at-a-time, ensuring sustainability and quality. In the off-season when not fishing, Kat and Luke sell their catch and other fish they’ve sourced from small boat Alaska fishermen. Before meeting Luke, Kat founded Katfish Salmon Co in 2020, with the goal of providing communities with high quality, traceable seafood direct, from the fisherman to the consumer. This goal includes addressing barriers to food justice within her local community through her Mutual Aid Fish Shares Program
